Queer Sound Collective and Performance Group, working in Theatre, Performance, Media Composing and Research
Linda Jiayun Gao-Lenders, Josephine Pascale Rudolph and Jannis Wulle founded sad sinʞ society during their studies at the Institute for Applied Theatre in Gießen. They perform and work mainly with hardware synthesizers. The queer sound collective use their different perspectives and fields of expertise such as voice work, classical music, music theory and sound engineering to create ambient, drones, noise and improvised cinematic soundscapes. sad sinʞ society ́s sound is build from emotional landscapes, also involving field recordings and effected voice. The collective performed at Theatermaschine 2023 in Gießen and did the Music and Sound Design for Performances/ Theatre Pieces and „Paranuss“ a short movie in cooperative with Arte and NDR.

Linda Jiayun Gao-Lenders (*1995) is a Chinese-German performer and sound artist based in NRW and Gießen. Lindas work evolves around the somatic potential of frequencies, archiving sound, feminist storytelling as well as (post-socialist) memory politics. From 2020-2022 Linda was a writing scholar at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and has shown collaborative works at Lichthoftheater Hamburg, FFT Düsseldorf, Theater Erfurt, tak Berlin, Frauenmuseum Bonn and St. I. Witkiewicza Theatre, Zakopane (Poland). Linda currently studies at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Gießen.
Josephine Pascale Rudolph (she*/none)

Josephine Pascale Rudolph (*1992) is a Gießen-based sound artist, performer and researcher. Josephine explores the connections between sound, fantasy, the body and the void within. Josephine studies at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Gießen. She* previously studied Performing Arts, majoring in Dance, Singing and Acting at the College of West Anglia UK. Earlier works by Josephine with colleagues and collaborations have been shown at the ReGeneration Festival 2023 at FFT Düsseldorf, Theatermaschine Festival 2023 and 2022 Gießen, at Lichthoftheater Hamburg, Giennale Festival 2022 in Gießen, das Loch Wuppertal, TNT Marburg and Theater Erfurt.

Jannis works revolve around the nostalgic essence, noise, randomness, but also pop and less abstract formats like contemporary film- and theatre music.
